Meet Dr. Sturgill
Dr. Jeremiah Sturgill began his academic journey at King University in Bristol, Tennessee on an academic scholarship. He graduated with honors and earned dual degrees in biology and business administration.
From there, Dr. Sturgill attended dental school at Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health, located just outside of Phoenix. While there, he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and Master of Public Health (MPH) degrees.
Dr. Sturgill completed the Postgraduate Orthodontic and Dentofacial Orthopedics Program and graduated with a specialty certificate in orthodontics and a doctorate in health education (DHEd). Dr. Sturgill was then chosen to participate in implant osseointegration study at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
He wrapped up his training by serving as chief resident for his program and completing rotations at the St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center – Barrow Neurological Institute Cleft and Craniofacial Center.
Meet Dr. Williams
Dr. Allison Williams grew up in Indiana, where her orthodontist transformed her life through braces. From that point forward, she knew she wanted to make that type of impact on the lives of others.
Dr. Williams attended Indiana University where she studied biology and small business management. She graduated with honors in 2014 and met her husband Matt while leading Young Life.
Dr. Williams continued to pursue her dream, beginning her dental education at Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis. In 2018, she completed her training and graduated at the top of her class.
Following this achievement, Dr. Williams accepted a residency position at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry Graduate Orthodontic Residency Program—one of the top orthodontic programs in the country.
She earned an orthodontic certification and Master’s Degree of Dental Science upon successfully defending her thesis on 3D printing. Through this program, Dr. Williams gained extensive experience with interdisciplinary cases and served on the craniofacial team during her time as a resident.
Meet Dr. Harper
Dr. Anne Miller Harper is a native of Kingstree, South Carolina, where she was raised in a rural, agricultural town. She went to Williamsburg Academy from first through 12th grade. After graduating from Williamsburg Academy in 2011, she attended Clemson University. Dr. Harper studied Public Heath Science, concentrating in Pre-Professional Health Studies and minoring in Athletic Leadership.
During the summers, Dr. Harper worked as a camp staffer for FUGE camps, a life-changing camp that teaches students how to jump into ministry and serve in their own communities. She met her husband, Walt, who was also on staff during her first summer.
Johnson City & Norton Braces
Braces in Johnson City, TN and Norton, VA are an excellent choice for correcting complex tooth issues. Since they can sometimes work faster at aligning teeth and closing gaps than other treatments might, overall treatment time may be slightly reduced.
Braces don’t require some of the more complex technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments can, meaning Sturgill Orthodontics braces are a cost-effective orthodontic option.
Traditional metal braces are one of the most efficient orthodontic tools we have. They’re made out of metal or ceramic brackets that are affixed to the teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics.
These brackets, wires, and bands work together to apply the gentle pressure that will gradually move the teeth into the positions we want them to be in as long as you have regular adjustments with our doctors.
Johnson City & Norton Invisalign
Invisalign is incredibly popular with both patients and orthodontists in Johnson City, TN and Norton, VA and is the top alternative to traditional braces. Instead of brackets and bands, the Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten your teeth.
Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material and customized to fit snugly over your teeth. To keep your teeth moving in the direction you want them to, you’ll need to switch your invisible trays out for the next one in the series every 1-2 weeks as directed by Dr. Sturgill and Dr. Williams. The Invisalign system can only work if the recommended guidelines are followed exactly! Aligners should be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment. If patients neglect to wear the aligners as directed, it can impede the results and also add time to the orthodontic process.
Invisalign is at its most efficient when correcting many of the most common orthodontic issues. For some complex cases, Invisalign may not be a good option. A free consultation with Dr. Sturgill and Dr. Williams at Sturgill Orthodontics in Johnson City, TN and Norton, VA will allow us to determine your eligibility for Invisalign.
